The premium cuvée from old vines on the clay-limestone plateau, named after a family member and built to age. The 2007 is now in a beautiful drinking window: roasted coffee and dark fruit on the nose, with blackberry, spice and cedar on the palate, silky tannins and the kind of secondary complexity that only comes with time in the bottle. A mature wine that does nicely decanted alongside Cantonese red-braised pork belly or a Vietnamese bo kho.

Description

A family estate in the commune of Montagne, sitting next door to Château Angélus on clay-limestone soils that punch well above the satellite appellation label. François Duverneuil relaunched the estate in the mid-2000s before handing the reins to his daughter Anaïs, who brings both deep family roots and professional expertise in Bordeaux viticulture.
