100% organic Malbec from 30-year-old vines on the prestigious third terrace of the Lot Valley, south-facing clay-siliceous soils with iron-rich pebbles. Lighter and more mineral than Argentine Malbec: blackcurrant, dark plum, black olive and a thread of mint and tobacco, with good freshness and a firm but refined tannic structure. The real thing. Malbec’s deep flavors go very well with Thai massaman curry and Japanese oden.

Description

Cathy Fournié inherited this estate in Lacapelle-Cabanac in 1998 from her father, who had sold all the grapes to négociants. She and husband Daniel decided to bottle their own wine from scratch, reaching out to Pascal Verhaeghe of the renowned Château du Cèdre for guidance. That friendship shaped everything. Now certified organic, with daughter Mathilde joining the team, and all four cuvées made from 100% Malbec — the grape that made Cahors famous long before Argentina got hold of it.
