“Il Bacialé” is the Piedmontese dialect word for the matchmaker who arranged marriages between noble families, and this wine is exactly that: a marriage of Barbera with Pinot Nero, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, each variety fermented separately and aged twelve months in wood. Barbera’s vivid acidity and sapidity hold everything together while the other grapes add spice, depth and structure. Dark berries, black pepper, walnuts and forest floor, with juicy warmth and a long finish. Brilliant with Gaeng Panag and Japanese wagyu yakiniku

Description

Giacomo Bologna spent his life proving that Barbera, long dismissed as a simple everyday grape, could make wines to rival the great names of Piedmont. He was right, and his legendary single-vineyard Barberas put Rocchetta Tanaro on the world wine map. Today his children Raffaella and Giuseppe run the estate with the same passion, keeping Barbera at the heart of everything they do.
