Natal means “birth” and this is Alpamanta’s entry point: biodynamic Cabernet Sauvignon from the Ugarteche zone, vinified in stainless steel with a short maceration to keep things fresh and true to the variety. Black cherry, blackcurrant, cedar and a menthol lift, with soft tannins and a clean balsamic finish. The kind of bottle that makes a strong argument for why organic farming matters. A highlight when paired with Korean galbi or a char-grilled wagyu skewer.

Description

Founded in 2005 by Austrian winemaeker Andrej Razumovsky, Alpamanta takes its name from the Quechua word for “love for the land,” and they mean it. Sitting at 950 metres in Luján de Cuyo, it is Argentina’s first certified biodynamic winery, a remarkable distinction in a region where this approach represents a tiny fraction of viticulture. Thirty-five hectares irrigated by Andean meltwater, farmed entirely without synthetic inputs.
