Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most iconic grapes of the Central Loire valley, one of France’s largest winemaking regions that spans nearly the full length of France from the Atlantic Ocean to the boundaries of Champagne. Frantz Saumon’s is one of our favorite examples, showing off a great combination of Sauvignon’s semi-tropical aromatics with it’s particualr Loire influences of cool green fruits and herbaceous flavors. The color is deeper on this one, showing the influence of slow fermentation and minimal intervention allowing drinkers to taste the full spectrum of the variety’s flavors.

Description

Frantz and his wife Marie live just off the Loire river in a small appellation known as Montlouis-sur-Loire where they specialize in making vibrant low intervention wines from local grapes like Romorantin, Chenin, Sauvignon, and more. The classic grapes of the Loire shine like none other through their hands-off, deliciousness first approach to their craft.
