Local grape Loureiro is the star here, a palate loaded with orange, lemon, and yuzu citruses and the whiff of sea breeze makes this a go-to beach wine for us and is especially delicious thanks to Aphros’ hands-off approach in the cellar that shows the lovely granite terroir adding minerality and a bright sense of tension in the wine. It’s sleek and easy-going but has this great umami backbone that keeps us coming back for more.

Description

Tucked up in the northwestern nook of Portgual’s Atlantic Coast, you’ll find some pretty picturesque seaside vineyards in the region of Minho. Here, Aphros makes wines that are a far cry from your typical Vinho Verdes, making lovely and fresh wines that the region is famous for but with a bit more vibrancy from their style of low intervention winemaking.
