Vindey Montgueux Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut

The Vindey Blanc de Blancs cuvée is made from 100% Chardonnay sourced from the Montgueux appellation of Champagne which interestingly enough is where the historic capital of the region resides. The soils here are chalky and full of limestone producing wines with lovely minerality and freshness akin to the best Burgundy, but of course, with a bit of bubbles wound through it all. The wine spends a year on lees before disgorging and only has 2g of residual sugar making it extra brut. An electric, entry level Champagne that tastes like preserved lemon, toasted almond, brioche, and crunchy pear.
